Yorkshire Police Chief Superintendent David Pickover
passed away peacefully on Saturday 17 June 2017.
David served many years at Bishopgarth Police Training School, Wakefield where
he eventually become Commandant. He wrote a number of reference books on
various legislative topics and was also the Legal Editor in the Police Review
magazine. He trained and lectured in many countries throughout the world and
for several years after the democratic revolution in Namibia he advised in the
formulation of its new Police Force.
After retirement from the Police he became a trainer in
Enforcement & Procedures with Daniel Training Services Ltd. For over 20
years, amongst the numerous Agencies, Services and Government Departments he
trained were an untold number of delegates at the NALEO Annual Training Course
and other provincial courses. His wealth of knowledge of criminal law knew no
bounds and his training methods and delivery were exceptional.
He was a just, honest and
generous man with a mischievous sense of humour. He was respected and held in
high esteem by the thousands he trained, worked alongside or were so fortunate
to be his friend. He will be sorely missed.
